Yesterday I started my liquid diet.  The beginning of the day wasn’t so bad because I am used to drinking a protein shake for breakfast.

Jeff and I decided to go out together to run some errands.  I needed to make my car payment at the credit union.  Have you ever seen Operation Repo?  It’s a show about the repo team who go and repo cars that are past due on payments.  Let’s just say antics ensue because there are some CRAZY people out there!!  One guy threw a bowling ball thru his car window as they were taking the car away on a tow truck.  Right,……I’m so upset that you’re taking my car that I’m going to damage MY OWN CAR!!!!!  These people are nuts!!  Anyways, one of the women on the show lives here in our apartment complex.  We’ve seen her driving around a few times, and every time we do we crack up.  She’s one tough cookie!!!  Anyways, our running joke is that we want to make sure we make our car payments so that she doesn’t show up at our door.  She doesn’t have far to go!

After the car payments, we went to Target to pick up some last minute supplies.  I wanted some trashy magazines to read this weekend and during my hospital stay.  We also went over to Panera Bread, where I order some chicken noodle soup sans chicken and vegetables.  Their soup broth is so yummy!  The last stop on our trip was going to Taco Bell for Jeff.  Now before you get all crazy and say “He took you over to Taco Bell while you are on a liquid diet???”, let me say that I told him that he could go thru the drive thru.  I averted my eyes so I didn’t see the menu and made him check the bag to see if everything was there.  But I did hold the bag on the way home, and let me just say it’s a great thing that I can’t smell anything because I think I would have torn that bag up!!  I kept muttering to myself “soup broth, soup broth, soup broth”.

As soon as we got home, I went in the bedroom to eat my soup while Jeff ate his Taco Bell.  Hey, I can’t smell but I sure as heck didn’t want to WATCH him eat it!  Overall the day was ok.  I started to get a little light headed, so Jeff made a protein shake for me.  I ate/drank soup broth, protein shakes, iced tea, sugar-free jello and sugar-free pudding, and ended the day with a sugar-free popcicle.

Today is my bowel cleanse.  As I type, I am drinking my magnesium citrate.  My take on this little bottle: lemon flavored horse piss.  I haven’t had much experience with horse piss, but if I did, I’m pretty sure this bottle would taste like it.  They try to disguise it with the lemon flavor, but no dice.  I was explaining the taste to Jeff.  The first few sips taste like a super tart Sprite, but after now drinking a whole bottle of it, the Sprite taste has left the building and all I’m left with is horse piss.  Lovely!!!

Well, I better run along.  The bottle says that things should happen within 30 minutes to 6 hours, so I think I should see something soon.  My stomach is starting to churn so I can only imagine what I have in store today.  Jeff has strict instructions to stay away from my bathroom and only slide a magazine or two under the door.

Thought for the day

I got home from work early today and what did I decide to do???  Clean out the fridge.  I thought it would be a good time to do it since I was home before Jeff.

In my cleaning, I came across a container of pesto, and the thought occured to me: “How can I tell if the pesto is bad?  It’s already green and I can’t smell a darn thing!!”

These are my ponderances as I go about my day!!  🙂

Retreat at Work

A few weeks ago, my office had a retreat at the Westlake Village Inn.  It was all about teamwork and learning about everyone’s different personality styles.  Then we went to Zuma Beach and built sand sculptures.  They also thought this would be a great time to take a picture for our holiday card.  Behold, for your viewing pleasure:

I’m not sure who’s bright idea it was to take our picture AFTER we were all hot and sweaty from working in the sun.  Thankfully I got a spot up front kneeling so you can’t see the water that splashed on me and made me look like I’d peed my pants!!!  But my team did win first place in the competitition!!  It’s a Buddha scuplture.

Here a few of the other teams works.  Our photographer was a hack (and I feel qualified to say that!!).  What few pictures he did take were not that great, and he didn’t even include picures of all the teams.  Sheesh!!!

This one was a caterpiler turning into a butterfly.  Cool!!

Team Infinity

Overall it was a fun day.  It was a nice excuse to get out of the office and go to the beach.  I managed not to get sunburned, except for 3 small spots on my shoulder.  It looked like I ran my hand over it with the sunscreen but I missed the spots between my fingers.  Oh well!  Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm (that was for you Jeff!!!)  🙂

Remember that office supply commercial where the parents are joyfully dancing around picking up back to school supplies while that Christmas song plays in the background??  The kids walk grimmly behind, looking like they are headed to their death.  I love that commercial (so does my stepmom!!).

That’s how I feel right now.  I just got the official word that I can re-enroll in school starting October 4.  I’ve been having such a hard time finding the right program.  You see, I really like the online school programs.  It’s tough to buckle down and have the willpower to do my work, but I love not having to go to a physical school.  The last thing I want to do is go to a community college and sit with a bunch of 18 year olds who really don’t want to be there themselves and slow the progress of the whole class down.  Been there done that!  No thank you!!

So the online programs are a great advantage.  They are a bit more pricy but I think my sanity is worth the extra money.  I’ve been trying to re-enroll in South University in Atlanta, and the problem is that this school will put you in a degree program and automatically sign you up for the next class in line for your degree.  This is great if you are looking to complete a degree program.  I on the other hand, just want to take enough accounting classes to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam and get my license.  The requirement is 48 units, 24 in business and 24 in accounting relating classes.  The business classes were no problem– I was a business major!!  And I did take a couple accounting classes as well.  So I’m looking at 16 units of accounting classes that need to be done.

If they put me into an accounting program, there are a bunch of pre-req’s that I’d have to take before I even get to the accounting classes.  No good.  And if I remain in the MBA program I was in, there are not enough accounting classes in it.  Also no good.  And if I go in undeclared and just take the classes I want, I can’t use financial aid.  I think they are trying to throw as many roadblocks in my way as possible!!

So I finally got the green light yesterday that they will allow me to take only accounting classes within the accounting degree program, and not take the pre-req’s.  HALLELUJAH!!!  (You’d think they’d WANT to try to get me in so I can give them money, but apparently it took an act of God to get them to ok it).  So I ordered my highly overpriced book from Amazon yesterday and now I’m waiting for it to arrive.  I’m not sure if I’ll have it in time, but it looks like they provide the first weeks’ reading online, for this very situation.

So it’s back to school I go!!!  I figure it will take me thru the spring semester to finish up, which is perfect since another requirement for the CPA license is to work under a licensed CPA for one year (I started my job in May).  So cross your fingers for me, and hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out for school.
